Welcome! I am a mathematician currently at EPFL, Switzerland. I believe that pure mathematics is guided by beauty and truth, placing it at the confluence of the arts, the humanities and the sciences.
My research applies geometric, analytic and dynamical tools to the study of groups and spaces.
Short Bio: Born and raised in Montreux, Switzerland. My basic education was in classics (Latin and ancient Greek). PhD in mathematics from ETH in Zurich, awarded the ETH Medal and prize. At the University of Chicago, I was Dickson Instructor and then Assistant Professor. Full Professor in Geneva and then at EPFL. I've had the privilege to be Director of the Bernoulli Center and President of the Swiss Mathematical Society.
